KennaXu Gallery will be honored to present a solo exhibition of American artist Jenny Kemp, featuring a selection of 21 works created by Kemp in 2023.
Jenny Kemp's paintings are full of energy, and she uses the creation of line and pattern as a channel to convey ideas. Using different line forms to explore intuition, abstraction is embodied to reflect on time, the phenomenon of growth and the concept of beauty. Camp’s spaces are rhythmic, with line and form dialogue in a reciprocal way, with color changes and overlays consolidating their relationship. In this way, her painting process is one of searching, looking to early abstractionists, and slowly building relationships until each painting develops a unique personality. Abstract forms exist in nature, and Camp draws inspiration from art history, figuration, and plant forms as a source of reference to evoke symbolic thinking. The tones are layered in the process of synthesis and superposition, the elements are intertwined and woven together, and the perceptual tension is switched and generated between precision and freedom. Camp explores patterns in the form of petals through rocking movements that are repeated throughout the painting, working together and against each other, often creating a feeling of harmony and chaos. Colors are applied in gradients to create a neutral palette between cold and warm, dark and light, dynamic and natural oppositions. The tendril-like shapes take on various extensions, wraps and twists, evoking the growth patterns of early spring.
